The first EPAM Engineering Hackathon in Lithuania will aim to improve everyday life experiences of citizens

EPAM Lithuania in collaboration with GovTech Lab Lithuania, Microsoft in Baltics, and Tech Zity will hold the EPAM Engineering Hackathon with the main message — Design Your Future on December 4-5.


EPAM Engineering Hackathon is a traditional social coding marathon gathering the brightest local minds to help NGOs, charity organizations, public sector groups, schools, hospitals, and governmental bodies in different countries to deliver digital products and solutions that improve their processes and services – and improve the lives of the citizens that use those processes and services every day.

Everyone can share their ideas and every IT representative can participate in the Hackathon to solve the everyday challenges that the Lithuanian communities face via this link.

EPAM Lithuania is inviting private, government and civic sector to submit their ideas to inspire solutions that contribute to social development at-pace with our rapidly changing world.

All the results and code of the hackathon will be publicly available for everyone as a open source so that companies, engineers and every public sector interested will be able to use them to accelerate development of valuable programs.

Hackathon Timeline

18 – 28 October / Stage 1: Idea crowdsourcing

28 October – 01 November / Stage 2: Shortlisting the ideas

01 – 29 November / Stage 3: Participants/Teams registration for the shortlisting ideas

29 November– 02 December / Stage 4: Introducing mentors to the teams

18 – 19 September / Days of the Hackathon and winners’ announcement

How to submit ideas?

If you have an idea that can improve everyday life of Lithuanian citizens through IT, you can submit it by filling out the form here.

How to participate?

Registration will open on 1st of November. Those who wish to participate should choose the ideas they want to work on during the hackathon from the shortlist provided and register as a solo participant or as a team. Solo participants are also invited to join the hackathon. The organizers will help them to find a like-minded people based on their choice of shortlisted ideas.

What to expect?

During the hackathon participants will be able to consult with subject-matter experts and technical mentors. Participants are also invited to attend workshops from the leaders of the global IT community.

Teams will have 2 days to create prototype/MVP of their project and must pitch them to the jury of experts from EPAM, local IT groups, partners, and domain experts on 05 December on 5th of December.

Announcing the winners

The winners will be announced on 5th of December. Hackathon will have two special recognition nominations:

  • The team of EPAM choice will be awarded a special prize and an opportunity to bring their project to life with the help of our experts,
  • The teams of jury’s choice will be awarded special prizes.
