Digital solution for Panevėžys industrial companies

Panevėžys Development Agency is looking for an innovative and engaging solution that takes into account the changing needs of consumers, such as schoolchildren and tourists, and allows them to experience the industry of Panevėžys without having to go inside the company.

Context

  • Studies show that the lack of human resources in the Panevėžys region hinders the investment and development of industrial enterprises. Only 2.5% of vocational school students in the Panevėžys region are studying specialities relevant to the engineering industry. One of the reasons for this situation is ineffective vocational guidance.
  • The city is already implementing initiatives to demolish myths about industry, to introduce schoolchildren and students to the specialties and career opportunities in the city’s companies, and to show the attractive, innovative face of modern industry.
  • However, organising study visits to companies requires human and time resources, which are limited in companies and dedicated to their direct functions. For this reason, companies tend to accept only a limited number of groups of schoolchildren for visits according to a pre-arranged schedule.
  • The already limited opportunities to see the city’s industry from the inside have been further limited by the COVID-19 pandemic. Due to the virus’ threat to workers’ health and business continuity, most companies have refused to organise study visits indefinitely.

Solution

  • The solution should have an educational aspect – schoolchildren or tourists could use it to learn in an interactive way new, interesting and useful information about the history of industrial enterprises, their activities, their products and their daily use.
  • The solution should be accessible to as many students or tourists as possible, both individually and in groups. Accordingly, the solution should not be tied to one specific location and limited by its opening hours or human resource capacity.
